The question is sometimes asked: "What does the Building Division do for the City?"  This Division was established to protect those who live and work in Carlsbad by enforcing the standards of building and safety put forth in the state Building Codes and various municipal codes and policies.

Whatever the size of the building project, staff is ready to provide support during every phase of the building permit process, from Monday through Friday at the City's offices on Faraday, on the phone or through email.

What's New?
Effective June 1st - Four(4) sets of plans and two(2) sets of calculations will be required for building plancheck submittal. Exception: Pools and some over-the-counter permits that do not require a formal plancheck will need only two(2) sets of plans for review.
