Senior long-term care planning seminar
Veteran’s Friend co-founders, Robert Dhillon and Kate Seelye, will discuss the impact that taxes and inflation are having on long-term care costs. In this free briefing, you will learn valuable information regarding future long-term care needs, how to plan in advance, and what should be considered when integrating VA benefits, state government benefits and private-pay long term care solutions. AARP driver safety refresher course
AARP is offering a one-day refresher course Thursday, Feb. 16, from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. You must have completed the eight-hour course within the last three years. Registration required; call 760-602-4650 to reserve your space. Must present your AARP membership card to receive the discount. $12/members & $14/non-members. Checks to be made payable to AARP.
"Prevention is the Key to a Healthy Heart!" seminar
A heart attack or stroke may seem to happen all of a sudden, but in truth, the factors that lead up to heart disease build up over a long time. Prevention is the key to living a longer, healthier life. This is a free, short presentation by Joanne Jacalan, RN, MSN, NP-C, a certified Nurse Practitioner, Cardiovascular Health Institute at Tri-City Medical Center. Learn tips and strategies on how to have a heart-healthy diet and exercise regime and will be followed by free blood pressure screenings. Thursday, Feb. 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Activity room.

Photoshop Elements - Editing
This class will demonstrate the use of Photoshop Elements software to edit your photos - enhance the best and fix the rest. Topics will include: cropping, exposure/color correction and photo restoration. We will also show the use of artistic effects that can easily be applied to your photos. New features of PSE’s version 10 will be discussed. Come join the learning and the fun. Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Digital Photo Introduction
This class will help you get great pictures from your digital camera faster and easier than ever. We will focus on understanding the important settings on today’s digital cameras and will provide tips on composition to turn your photos from ordinary to extraordinary. Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Fun with the iPad - part II
This class will continue our exploration of the exciting world of the iPad. We will cover tips and tricks to make the iPad more productive in everyday use. Topics will include: reading books on the iPad, using the iPad for photos and videos, enjoying music on the iPad, creating and sharing documents, and the use of the iPad for making presentations. Digital Photo with Picasa - part II
Feedback from our initial Picasa class indicated a desire for more information about this great photo-editing software. Provided by Google as a free download for Windows and Mac, Picasa is fast becoming the preferred photo organizer and editor for millions of photo enthusiasts. Come find out why. We will reserve time to show off some of the exciting advanced features of Picasa (online web albums, slide shows, and movies). Attendance at the previous class is not a requirement. Mat Pilates
Pilates is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises, which helps to balance our bodies, improve circulation and posture, reduce stress and unite body and mind.
