The state of Califorina's sales tax is 7.75 percent, while the City of Carlsbad's sales tax is 8.75 percent. Total sales tax revenue generated in to the general fund (2007-2008) was $28 million dollars.

Approximately $1,222,107 in sales tax revenue is generated from businesses in the Village redevelopment area with nearly 66.5 percent of those revenues ($813,036) generated from 94 businesses (Dec. 2007):
