  • Construction started on Carlsbad Desalination Project - 11/19/2009

    Work has started on the construction of the Carlsbad Desalination Project, which by 2012 will provide nearly all of the City of Carlsbad’s water supply and 10 percent of the water supply for the region.  City officials joined representatives of Poseidon Resources Corporation, the project’s developer, at the site this week to oversee this important milestone 11 years in the making.

  • Carlsbad Fire Department gets high marks in new study - 11/18/2009

    The City of Carlsbad has announced the results of a comprehensive Fire Department planning study that found the city is providing a high level of fire service that meets or exceeds the community’s current needs.  The report also offered recommendations that can be considered by city leaders over time as fiscal conditions allow.

  • Updated water rules allow more flexibility in achieving needed cutbacks - 11/10/2009

    The Carlsbad Municipal Water District is amending its Water Conservation Ordinance to allow the district to set outdoor watering schedules according to water conservation needs rather than prescribed days and times.  This move will provide greater flexibility in how to meet water conservation goals.

  • Trash Schedule - 11/10/2009

    When trash day falls on or after certain holidays, the collection day will be one day later than the normal collection day, Monday through Saturday.  For all other holidays, trash will be picked up on the regularly scheduled collection day.  Click for a list of holidays that affect trash service.

  • Carlsbad firefighter recognized for exceptional public safety service - 11/10/2009
    City of Carlsbad Fire Department Engineer/Paramedic Jeff Chumbley was awarded the Burn Institute’s Pamela R. Kelly Award for his exceptional contribution to fire service in the community.
