  • City expands use of recycled water – 10/29/2009
    The City of Carlsbad is expanding its use of recycled water with the recent addition of recycled water service at Calavera Hills Community Park.  Recycled water is now being used to irrigate the athletic fields and other landscaping at the 16 acre park in northeast Carlsbad, which will save an estimated 8.5 million gallons of drinking water a year.
  • Recession continues to affect city budget – 10/22/2009
    The City of Carlsbad’s general fund revenues are down 6 percent from projections during the first quarter of the fiscal year due to continued declines in the city’s main sources of revenue. 
  • City of Carlsbad passes coastal power plant moratorium – 10/20/2009
    The Carlsbad City Council passed a moratorium Tuesday on coastal power plants and authorized city staff to study changing what could be built at the site of the Encina Power Station, on Carlsbad Boulevard just north of Cannon Road.  This action prohibits a second power plant proposed by NRG, requiring the state to overrule the city if the plant is to be approved.

  • Community invited to village celebration – 10/20/2009
    The community is invited to a free event to celebrate the successful redevelopment of the city’s historic village, Wednesday, Oct. 28, 5 to 7:30 p.m.

  • San Onofre Tests Sirens – 10/20/2009
    A test of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Community Alert Siren System is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, from 10 a.m. to noon. All sirens near the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station will be sounded multiple times for about three minutes each time.  Motorists traveling on I-5 may hear the sirens. No response action is necessary. This is only a test.
