About the Community Arts Grant ProgramThe Cultural Arts Office's Community Arts Grants are designed to help Carlsbad arts organizations, artists, and community and educational groups achieve their artistic and administrative objectives, while simultaneously providing cultural and artistic opportunities for Carlsbad citizens. Proposals may involve visual, performing, literary or media arts. There are two categories of grants:
Goals of the Community Arts Grants Program are:
A Peer Review Panel consisting of artists, arts professionals from the Carlsbad area, and assigned Arts Commissioners reviews and rates all grant applications, determines project worthiness, and recommends appropriate funding levels. All applications are individually evaluated with narrative comments, given numerical scores and collectively ranked. The process is designed to strengthen the evaluation process and to ensure the integrity and success of the grants program. The Carlsbad Arts Commission then reviews the peer panel recommendations and awards the grants. Guidelines and application forms are usually posted by the beginning of August for the following year's grants, with completed applications usually due in mid October. To make sure you are notified when the applications are available, contact the Arts Office at 760-434-2900.
