The Opportunity DrawingsThe TGIF Jazz in the Parks concerts truly set the standard for the best in community programming. But the concerts are more than just great music: there is also the dancing, picnics, hands-on arts activities for kids, the pure pleasure of hanging out with other members of the community on a warm summer night… AND the Opportunity Drawings conducted by the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts. Taking place at the intermission during each concert, these drawings have truly become an integral and highly anticipated part of the whole evening’s experience! The Opportunity Drawings are the primary vehicle used of the Carlsbad Friends of the Arts to raise funds to help support programs like these TGIF concerts. The Friends also support other Arts Office programs such as Three-Part-Art, the nationally-recognized art education program for Carlsbad's third- and fourth-graders; Art At Jazz, the hands-on artmaking activity presented at the last TGIF concert at each park site; and opening receptions for each new exhibition presented at the Cannon Art Gallery, among others. We know that our audience buys the Opportunity Drawing tickets because they want to support the concerts and these other Arts Office programs. But… we’re sure they wouldn’t mind winning the prizes either!! In the past, we have offered major prizes from Alaska Airlines and Pueblo Bonito Hotels & Resorts Mexico. This year, our friends from Furnishings 4 Less have joined in to donate some truly amazing prizes, such as a Mitsubishi 65-inch high definition wide screen TV, a Tommy Bahama Lexington five-piece bedroom set, and the rather astonishing grand prize of a $10,000 extreme interior design makeover with one of their professional designers!
