CITY OF CARLSBAD BEGINS POSTING UNCLAIMED CHECK NOTICESImportant Notice! Does the City Owe You Money? Did You Know...Unclaimed checks are payments issued by the City, which are not cashed within six (6) months after the date of issue. The Treasurer of the City of Carlsbad holds these payments, which are not the property of the City, for three (3) years after the date of issue. After that time, pursuant to State of California Government Code Section 50050, the City is required to publish a public notice listing these unclaimed amounts, which are three (3) or more years past their issue date. Introducing Web Posting Notices for Unclaimed Checks.In addition to placing an ad once a year in the North County Times to notify the public of unclaimed checks, every six (6) months, on the City's web site, we will update the list. When It All BeginsEffective July, 2002, the City of Carlsbad began posting unclaimed checks to the City's website.
