To Become a City Vendor

While there is always someone available to assist you during normal business hours, Purchasing staff generally do not make appointments with vendors except in connection with specific, current purchase efforts. If you are interested in being placed on our vendor's or contractor's lists, please send a letter on your letterhead to the address listed in the purchasing directory with a detailed explanation of the goods and services you offer or use our on-line registration. We will place you in our database and route any marketing material you may include to the most likely users in the City.

Surplus Property

Purchasing is responsible for the disposal of City owned surplus property. The City contracts with a private auction company to sell property two or three times per year. When sold, monies are credited to the General Fund. For more information and the date of the next auction, please contact:

Recycled Products

It is the policy of the City of Carlsbad to purchase and use recycled products except when such use negatively impacts health, safety or operational efficiency. A 15% preference, not to exceed $1,000 per contract, shall be given to recycled products. The preference percentage shall be based on the lowest bid or price quoted by the vendor or contractor offering non-recycled products.

Mail

Purchasing is responsible for handling much of the City's mail. There are numerous City departments and divisions located at several locations. When addressing mail to the City, please include a specific person or delivery location.

Please remember that gratuities in the form of entertainment, gifts, or remuneration to any Purchasing employee will not be accepted and may result in debarment of a vendor or contractor from doing business with the City.
