GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM

The Geographic Information System (GIS) of the City of Carlsbad serves the geographic information needs of all city departments and Carlsbad residents. The foundation of the GIS is a city-wide basemap of tax assessor parcel boundaries and related attributes. Many other data layers are registered to this parcel base, including administrative boundaries, street alignments, land contours, slope values, and vegetation coverage.

Time permitting, the Carlsbad GIS also provides geo-processing services to private industry, and sells GIS data, according to the rates and prices set forth in the City's Fee Schedule.

Geographic data for the Carlsbad area as well as San Diego County in general, is available at the San Diego Association of Government's (SANDAG) GIS web page. Also, the GIS of the City and County of San Diego, SanGIS, is another source of geographic data, both in hard copy, and as digital files.
