THE CARLSBAD LIBRARY AND ARTS FOUNDATION

The Carlsbad City Library, with it's Library on Dove Lane, the remodeled Cole Library, and Centro de Información, is a community treasure. From the extensive collection of over 280,000 volumes to a wide range of online data services, from an imaginative gallery of art to a state-of-the-art auditorium, the Library has amassed a wealth of cultural resources from a long tradition of civic pride and responsibility.

Continuing in this tradition, the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation was created to seek, cultivate and provide financial support for our library and art facilities and programs to promote lifelong learning and cultural enrichment in our community.

With the addition of the New Library and the renovation of the Cole Library, the Carlsbad City Library has expanded its collections and facilities in every area of interest. The Library has some of the most advanced children's services in the country, includes a 31,000-volume collection, an extensive computer center, relaxed reading areas and an outdoor patio and sculpture garden. The general, reference and business collections have been broadened to include the most current titles, periodicals and online databases. Through a partnership with the North San Diego Genealogical Society, the Library's nationally renowned Resource Collection for Genealogists continues to prosper at the Cole Library. The Centro de Información, at Harding Street and Pine Avenue in northern Carlsbad, serves the needs of the Spanish-speaking community.

Vital educational programs continue to serve the pursuits of every age group: from story hours, summer reading programs and writing workshops for children to investment resources, literacy programs for adults and homebound services for seniors; from computer/Internet training and learning programs for teens and adults to financial management workshops for the business community. The Library provides a wide range of programs covering a variety of subjects throughout the year.

Making the arts more accessible to the residents of Carlsbad, the William D. Cannon Art Gallery presents a continual schedule of exceptional national traveling, cureted and juried local art exhibits and workshops presented by the Carlsbad Arts Office. The 215-seat Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, a state-of-the-art facility with an advanced audio/visual system and limited edition Steinway grand piano, creates the perfect venue for concerts, recitals, lecture series and community workshops.

With these remarkable facilities now in place, the Carlsbad City Library has made an even greater commitment to meet our community's expanding needs and expectation for access, depth and excellence. Valuable public-private partnerships must be created which encourage individuals, businesses, civic groups and foundations to become involved in the Library's ongoing development.

To this end, the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation has established both Designated Funds and Endowment Funds to accommodate a variety of contribution and funding sources. The designated Funds allow a patron to define the specific use of his/her contribution within the following:

Cultural Fund
Educational Fund
Technology Fund

The Endowment Funds allow a patron to donate funds and assets for the purpose of generating long term income to be used for specific purposes as listed above as well as:

Art Gallery Fund
General Library Services/Facilities Fund

Please join us as a donor to the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation by contributing essential funds to ensure the Library's future growth.
