Homebound Program

Do you need books, but find yourself homebound and unable to travel to the Library? The Library Homebound Program ensures that homebound individuals have access to a wide range of library materials, delivered directly to their residences by trained volunteers. This free service is open to City of Carlsbad residents who are prevented from visiting the library due to a medical or related condition. Items - including books, audio books, CDs, and movies - are selected based on your preferences and requests.

To sign up for this service, please call 434-2847, and we will assign an available volunteer to you. You will need a Carlsbad City library card.

If you are interested in volunteering to bring library materials to homebound patrons, please call our Library Volunteer Services Department at 434-2877. A driver's license and a small amount of your time each month is all that are needed. We will match you with a homebound patron needing assistance in your neighborhood.

Many of our volunteers have expressed the sense of reward they feel assisting those who otherwise would have difficulty obtaining library materials. Likewise, the patrons in the program are most appreciative of the energy and time our volunteers commit to the program - efforts which make a positive impact on their daily lives.
