All three Carlsbad Libraries offer computer use for children including word processing and Internet access. All youth under age 18 must have an Internet User Agreement signed by a parent or guardian on file at the library to be able to use the computers. Children under the age of 13 must use the terminals in the Children's area. Children under the age of 12 must have a parent remain with them while they use the Internet. Children 13-17 may use Adult or Children's terminals. Adults who are supervising their child's use of the computer in a Children's area may use a terminal if one is available, with the understanding that if a child needs a computer they must relinquish their terminal. Parents are responsible for the terms of the Internet User Agreement whether accompanying their child or not. Guidelines for Internet safety are available at www.safekids.com. Computers are not equipped with filtering software. |
