Opening August 25, 2008

The Centro de Información will be closed July 14 - August 22 and the Adult Learning Program July 21 - August 22, for their relocation to the new Library Learning Center, located at 3368 Eureka Place (on the east side of Holiday Park). The Library Learning Center will open for business on August 25, 2008 at 11am.

Join us for the Learning Center's grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 23. The ceremony begins at 10am, followed by the ribbon cutting, tours, children's activities including crafts and storytimes, entertainment by the Mariachi Divas and refreshments until 3pm. The Carlsbad City Library Learning Center brings two successful programs under one roof. The Adult Learning Program and the Centro de Información have been enormously successful in increasing literacy in our community. Both facilities currently reside in leased spaces that they have outgrown and finding them a permanent home has long been the goal of the Carlsbad City Library.

This goal will soon become a reality. In fall 2006, construction began on the Carlsbad City Library Learning Center, a facility that will bring the services of the Adult Learning Program and Centro de Información under one roof. The 11,000-square-foot facility will be located on Eureka Place, across the street from Holiday Park in northern Carlsbad

The new Carlsbad City Library Learning Center will provide:

  • A library collection including books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs for people of all ages
  • Literacy tutoring for high school students and adults
  • Homework assistance for students
  • Public computer access and computer classes
  • Study rooms
  • Special programs and events
  • Community information and referrals
