Three Vehicles Collide and One Overturns on Palomar Airport Road

On August 22, at 6:42 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department received a report of a traffic collision involving three vehicles in the intersection of Palomar Airport Road and Armada Drive. One of the vehicles had overturned onto the roof.

Officers responded to the scene and found that a 2007 Acura MDX driven by a 20-year-old male had collided with a 1994 Chevrolet Suburban and a 2013 Volvo sedan.

An initial investigation showed that the driver of the 2007 Acura entered the intersection against a red left arrow light prior to colliding with the two other vehicles.

The City of Carlsbad Fire Department responded to the scene, accessed the injuries to the driver of the 1994 Chevrolet Suburban and transported him to Scripps hospital in La Jolla for treatment.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that neither intoxication nor distracted driving are a factor in this case.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
