Attempted Robbery in Residence on Park Drive

On January 27 at 2:14 p.m., the City of Carlsbad Police Department was called to the 4600 block of Park Drive. The caller reported that a female was screaming and stated a man tried to attack her.

Officers responded to the scene and located a female victim. The victim stated an unknown race, light skinned, male adult entered her home through an unlocked front screened door, tied her up and began to search the residence. The victim was able to escape the residence and ran outside.

The suspect was further described as late 30's or early 40's, wearing a black ski mask and dark clothing.

A neighbor standing outside, heard the screaming and observed the suspect run away from the residence. The neighbor tackled the suspect and wrestled him to the ground. The suspect was able to escape and was chased, by the neighbor, to the area of Cove and Park Drives.

A perimeter was set up in the area and with the assistance of the San Diego County Sheriff's K-9 and Air Support Units a search was conducted.

After an extensive search of the area officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation.

The investigation into why the Attempted Robbery occurred is ongoing.
