City Announces Carlsbad Helps Together Community Service Project

The City of Carlsbad is sponsoring the Carlsbad Helps Together project to collect donations for residents of La Posada Homeless Shelter as part of Carlsbad Reads Together 2017. Donation boxes are available at all city libraries until Feb. 23. Teens (grades 6 -12) are invited to participate in a community service opportunity on Feb. 24 at 3 p.m. at the Library Learning Center, located at 3368 Eureka Place, to assemble care packages for residents of the shelter.

  • Carlsbad Reads Together is designed to bring community members together through engaging them in discussion around the same book at the same time.
  • The 2017 selection for Carlsbad Reads Together is Into the Beautiful North, by Luis Urrea.
  • Carlsbad Reads Together 2017 will feature a variety of events throughout the month of February, including book discussions, concerts, genealogy activities, films and a community service project connecting to the theme of the book.
