Library Hosts Local Author Festival, 5/6

The Carlsbad City Library will host Young Adult and Adult Local Author Festival on May 6. The festival will be held in the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium at the Carlsbad City Library complex, located at 1775 Dove Lane. Admission for all events is free. Seating is first come, first served.

Young Adult Author Festival, 10 a.m.

Join us for a day of local author panels moderated by Ona Russell, author of historical mysteries Rule of Capture, O’Brien’s Desk, and The Natural Selection and professor at University California San Diego.

Enjoy a panel discussion with five local young adult authors. Following the panel discussion, join us in the library’s courtyard to meet the authors, enjoy refreshments, and peruse books available for sale by Mysterious Galaxy and signing. 100 free comics will be given away by IDW Publishing.

Young Adult author panelists include:

  • Robin Benway author of Emmy and Oliver and the Also Known As series
  • D.J. MacHale author of Curse of the Boggin, the Pendragon series, the SYLO Chronicles, and the Project Alpha series
  • Cindy Pon author of Sacrifice and Serpentine
  • Barrie Summy author of The Disappearance of Emily H. and the I So Don’t Do Mysteries series 
  • Kiersten White author of And I Darken, The Chaos of Stars, Illusions of Fate, and the Paranormalcy series

Adult Author Festival, 1 p.m.

Ona Russell will moderate a panel discussion with six local authors of adult fiction and non-fiction. The author panel will be immediately followed by a meet and greet with the authors in the library’s courtyard. Enjoy refreshments and peruse books available for sale and signing.

Adult author panelists include:

  • Isabel Diamond author of Karachi, Dacca…and Back: Searching to Reclaim My Children (Memoir/Adventure)
  • Blake S. Lee author of Rest Now, Beloved (Historical Fiction/Mystery)
  • Alan Mindell author of The Closer and The B-Team (Sports Fiction)
  • Annie Mary Perez author of Almond Tequila (Fiction)
  • Jeffrey Seay author of the Ruben Carver NCIS Special Agent Series (Action Thriller)
  • Chima Vincenza Life After Death (Memoir)
