Driver Suspected of being Under the influence Collides with Pole

On May 27 at 1:50 a.m., a City of Carlsbad Police Officer witnessed a red Toyota truck collide with the center median eastbound on Palomar Airport Road east of Interstate 5. The vehicle continued eastbound on Palomar Airport Road at a high rate of speed.

The officer attempted to locate the vehicle but was unsuccessful.

During a search of the area a Carlsbad Officer located a vehicle matching the description travelling northbound on Melrose Drive from Faraday Avenue in the City of Vista. The Officer attempted to stop the 2008 Toyota truck but the driver failed to yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

After a short pursuit, the truck collided into a large pole at La Mirada Drive and Sycamore Avenue in Vista. The male driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken into custody.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old Noel Williamson. A white male from Vista. He was arrested for a felony failure to yield to an emergency police vehicle and misdemeanor driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The Vista Fire Department transported Williamson to a local medical facility for evaluation.
