The Carlsbad City Library is hosting a new Author Talk on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. at the Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, located in the Carlsbad City Library complex at 1775 Dove Lane. Admission is free and seating is first come, first served.

Join authors and serious thrifters Reise Mooe and Allison Engel for their insider tips on how to create your perfect “Style ID” without sabotaging your budget. In their book, Thrift Style: The Ultimate Bargain Shopper’s Guide to Smart Fashion, the authors knocked off runway looks, took apart men’s jackets to demystify clues to quality and gave the lowdown on what labels are worth the hunt. Aided by a number of Hollywood and theater costume designers, as well a host of thrift store owners and thrifting experts across the country, the authors show readers how to cultivate thrift shop finds into chic and eye-catching outfits. Audience members at this event will receive easy “dos” and “don’ts” to spot quality used items and customize their own style.
