The City of Carlsbad is seeking residents interested in filling a vacancy on the City of Carlsbad Planning Commission. The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on matters regarding land use and development within the city, including implementation and updating of the General Plan and other policy issues. The commission also reviews development projects and the Capital Improvement Program for consistency with the Growth Management Plan.
The commission’s seven community members are appointed by a majority vote of the City Council to serve four year terms. The current vacancy is due to a member being unable to fulfill her term. The term expires in April 2018.
The Planning Commission normally meets at 6 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the City Council Chamber at Carlsbad City Hall, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and registered voters. Applications are available on the city’s website or in the City Clerk’s Office located in City Hall at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by noon on Sept. 4, 2015.
Planning Commission members are required to complete two hours of ethics training every two years and file a statement of economic interests annually.
