An emergency is defined as any situation in which there is an immediate threat to life or property and immediate action or assistance is needed.

Examples of when to call 9-1-1

• A medical emergency
• A burglary in progress
• A house or garage fire

The City of Carlsbad urges all residents and businesses to be prepared for emergencies, have an emergency plan, and be familiar with tips on what to do before, during and after an emergency.

Large scale emergencies affecting Carlsbad

In the event of an emergency, the City of Carlsbad will activate the city's Emergency Operations Center. When the Carlsbad Emergency Operations Center is activated, details and information on the status of the incident will be posted to the Emergency Information page.
