INDOOR AND OUTDOOR FACILITIES

The City of Carlsbad Recreation Department offers indoor and outdoor facilities that can be used by all types of organizations and private party occasions. Take advantage of some great facilities in your neighborhood.

Aviara Park
Aviara Community Park is located in central Carlsbad near the intersection of Poinsettia Avenue and Ambrosia Lane. The park offers a wide variety of active and passive play areas, and sport activities for all ages including soccer, basketball and softball. The park features an expansive children's tot lot, and is able to host family picnics and gatherings in one of our five covered and lighted picnic shelters.

Calavera Hills Community Park
Calavera Hills Community Park offers topnotch facilities built to satisfy recreation enthusiasts throughout the community. The sixteen acre park has a community center, multi-use playing fields, active and passive play areas. The City Recreation Department has various instructional classes, Youth and Adult Sports leagues at the park. For more information call (760) 602-4681.

Cannon Park
Cannon Park is on the corner of Carlsbad Blvd. and Cannon Road near the Pacific Ocean. This park features a basketball court, picnic tables and barbecue, tot lot play area, and a softball backstop. Groups of 50 or more may reserve Cannon Park's Open Space. For more information call (760) 602-7513.

Carrillo Ranch
Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park is a 27-acre park located at the site of the former "rancho" once owned by the late actor Leo Carrillo. The ranch is located in the Southeast Quadrant of the City, near the intersection of Melrose and Carrillo Way. Leo Carrillo built the ranch in the late 30's as a retreat and working ranch get-away from his busy Hollywood career. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a State Historic Landmark. The park will be unique from other City parks, as it will focus on historic interpretation of the early Spanish rancho period and will provide educational, cultural and passive recreation opportunities.

Harding Community Center
The Harding Community Center is conveniently located one block west off Interstate-5 at 3096 Harding Street. The center has three meeting rooms, perfect for seminars, parties, and luncheons. The Auditorium has a banquet capacity of 180, theater style capacity of 250. It features an elevated stage, adjustable house lighting, and public restrooms. The Recreation Hall has a banquet capacity of 90, theater style capacity of 118. The room features a wood floor, patio area, and kitchen. The third room offered at the Harding Center is the Multi-Purpose room. Its capacity is 20 persons, perfect for board meetings. All the facilities have tables and chairs, coffee urns, and sound equipment available at no extra cost. For more information call (760) 602-7513.

Hidden Canyon Park
Hidden Canyon Park is located in the Northeast Quadrant of Carlsbad. The park is a passive recreational park with walking paths, scenic seating and picnic areas, rest room, turfed areas, two tot lots and a recreational trail leading to Carlsbad's ever popular and first "Dog Park".For information regarding the rental of one picnic area, please contact Calavera Hills Community Center at 760-602-4680.

Holiday Park
Holiday Park is located on the corner of Chestnut and Pio Pico. The 5.9 acre park features horseshoe pits, tot lot play area, a picnic area, and rest rooms, and plenty of tree shade. For more information on renting the picnic area and/or gazebo call (760) 602-7513.

Hosp Grove Park
Hosp Grove Park is located on the corner of Jefferson and Monroe St., near the Buena Vista Lagoon. This park features a tot lot play area, picnic tables and benches, and a 1.5 mile walking trail. This is a non-reservable park. For more information call (760) 602-7513.

La Costa Canyon Park
The park has a tot lot, sand volleyball court, two lighted tennis courts, basketball court and picnic area. Heavy vegetation surrounds the park, which makes it a nice spot to just relax or participate in your favorite recreational activity. This neighborhood park is located off La Costa Avenue at Pueblo and Rana Court. For more information call (760) 602-4690.

Ann D. L'Heureux Memorial Dog Park
Located on Carlsbad Village Drive, ½ mile East of El Camino Real, the Memorial Dog Park provides 13,200 square feet of fenced area for dogs to play and exercise. Relax under the eucalyptus trees while meeting new friends and neighbors. The memorial Dog Park features benches, a dog drinking fountain, plastic bag dispensers and receptacles for clean up, and its own parking lot.
