What is Crime Prevention?

Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it.  Almost all crime can be prevented by simply removing the opportunity for crime.

The Crime Prevention Unit's goal is to reduce the threat of crime and increase the quality of life  though research, program development and public education.  Personalized programs are created to meet the unique needs of Carlsbad’s residents, children, businesses, seniors, crime victims, tourists and others.
