Annual Citywide Statistics

The Carlsbad Police Department reports crime according to the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program. The Program is a nationwide, cooperative statistical effort of law enforcement agencies voluntarily reporting data on crimes brought to their attention. UCR is a system of uniform crime statistics, with standardized offense definitions for seven main offense classifications known as Part I crimes. The seven Part I offense classifications include the violent crimes of murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, and the property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.

Index crime rates are a calculation of index crimes relative to the population. They are expressed as index crimes per 1,000 population. The number of FBI index crime per 1,000 population is a standard measure used throughout the law enforcement community.

Statistics in Your Neighborhood

Crime statistics are published on a monthly basis for each of the police beats in Carlsbad. Select the beat that corresponds to your area of interest. You should also visit your potential home both during the day and at night to view activity in the area. Look at other homes and their condition. Is it quiet or noisy? Regional Crime MAPS

"Crime MAPS" allows you to view maps of various types of crimes, arrests, citations, and traffic-related incidents around an address or location anywhere in San Diego County. You can view the map, print it out, and print out summaries of the incidents. The primary local law enforcement agencies in San Diego County take reports for all crime cases, arrests, citations and some traffic collisions. The reports are entered into the Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS), which provides the data for Crime MAPS.

Regional Crime Statistics

The Automated Regional Justice Information System (ARJIS) Crime Statistics page allows you to create a custom Index Crime report for a specified date range and geographical area. Index Crimes are standardized offense definitions for seven main crime types, administered by the FBI for a nationwide, cooperative statistical effort.

From the ARJIS home page, select "Crime Statistics" from the menu.

Sex Offenders

The Megan's Law web site allows you to search for sex offenders by address, city, or zip code within California. The results of a search include photos, addresses and conviction information of offenders. California's Megan's Law was enacted in 1996, and allows local law enforcement agencies to notify the public about sex offender registrants found to be posing a risk to the public.

The San Diego Sheriff's web site allows you to search by name, booking number or offense charge to see if an individual in currently in the County jail.

Who has Warrants?

The San Diego Sheriff's web site allows you to search by name and date of birth to see if an individual has an arrest warrant.

Carlsbad Municipal Codes

City of Carlsbad Municipal Codes can be searched by key phrase. They are updated on a quarterly basis.
