CHAPLAINS

The chaplaincy program was established to provide additional assistance for officers, their families and other department employees. Chaplains are volunteers from recognized religious faiths who are able and willing to care for the needs of law enforcement personnel. On call twenty-four hours a day, the department chaplains stand ready to respond.

Volunteer chaplains participate in ride-alongs and may attend briefings. They may be called to assist in any crisis situation the officer encounters while on patrol, counsel peace officers, other members of the department, or family members. They may serve as liaison with other clergy in the community, and may make referrals involving clerical services as requested by the officer and/or an officer’s family, such as weddings and funerals.
