Now is your chance to participate in one of the world's top 5 longest running triathlons as the Carlsbad Triathlon races into its 28th year. It is a sprint distance race, consisting of a 1K Swim, 25K Bike, and 5K Run. The course begins at Tamarack Surf Beach and follows the coastline of Carlsbad past our scenic beaches, lagoons and wildlife preserves. "Kung Fu Panda" is coming to a big screen in a park near you. Time Warner Cable's Moonlight Movie series is partnering with Carlsbad Recreation to bring a family fun event. Bring family and friends, a blanket and beach chairs. We will have games, activities, and food from 5-8 p.m. The movie will start at dusk--when nature turns out the lights, the show will begin.
Activity cards and unlimited Fun Zone wristbands will be available for purchase at the event for $5 ea that will get you access to crafts, activities, bounce houses and more.
Food and drinks will be available for sale from 5-8pm.

Splish, splash you're invited to the Halloween bash at the Monroe Street Pool. The entire family is welcome to join in our ghostly games and creepy contests like bobbing for brains, fishing for sea monsters, climbing the Wall of Doom, and plunging off the Tower of Terror. We'll have creepy crafts, a giant waterslide, and carnival games and don't forget your bag for Trick-or-Treating.
The San Dieguito Synchronized Swimmers and Dive San Diego have created a Halloween show just for our event. Come in costume and enter the costume contest for all ages, but don't forget your swim suit! Food and drinks are available for sale.
The entire family is welcome. Tickets purchased by 5:00p.m. October 9th receive a $4 discount. Based on availability, tickets can be purchased at the door October 10th for $12 per person; Children 3 and under are free. Children 8 and younger must be accompanied by an adult when in the water. Presale ends October 9 at 5:00 p.m. This event sells out so purchase tickets today!

Leo Carrillo Ranch transitions into a classic Christmas setting with lights, decorations, and a 14ft Christmas tree. Enjoy holiday entertainment, a tree lighting ceremony, crafts, cookie decorating, and a very special visit by Santa himself. Get some holiday shopping done at the handmade craft boutique, and make sure and bring a blanket and chair for an outdoor holiday movie on the big screen.
Admission is $8 per person (3 and under are free) and gets you access to crafts, Santa, Cookie decorating, horse and carriage rides, entertainment and the outdoor movie. Merchandise, food, beverages, and photos with Santa are available for sale. Bring out the entire family and create those special memories that you are sure to never forget.
Parking will be at Carrillo Elementary with entry into the park with through the school field.

Battle of the Bands
Carlsbad's Teen Scene kicks off its 7th annual Battle of the Bands competition 2010. Teen bands will compete for the title of Carlsbad Battle of the Bands Champion along with prizes and publicity.
All members of the band must be between the ages of 13-19 to be eligible to compete. Once your band is selected, there will be a $50 entry fee per band (entry fee is $40 if 50% or more of the members are Carlsbad residents)
Demo submission must be received by January 4, 2010.
Art Exhibit
Display your talents in the art exhibit where you can feature up to two pieces in any medium such as photos, drawings, digital renderings, clothing design, sculptures, and more. Entry is free; just fill out the entry form with a brief description of your piece and return it no later than January 15.
Film Festival
Debut your talents as the creative director in the Teen Film Festival. Create a 5 min or less short film, and submit it on a dvd with your entry form no later than January 15. Entry into the Film Festival is free.

Teens, this event is all about you. We have a variety of activities and exhibits for a night of total fun. The headline event will include nine teen bands (ages 13-19) who will battle it out for the title of "Carlsbad Battle of the Bands 2010 Champion," but that's not all. We have Guitar Hero and Rock Band in the Video Game Room, an Art exhibit, and a film festival featuring pieces created by teens. Create your own art on the slam boards or challenge your friends to a round of Karaoke or “Dance Dance Revolution”. Get out and get creative at this years’ Teen Scene.
Food, beverages, and merchandise will be available for an additional cost.

Join us for live music, fun games, exciting arts and crafts, and food. Come enjoy an amazing magic show, bounce houses, a giant slide, a chance to "soak the bunny" and much more. Collect eggs in the Egg Scramble activity on the baseball fields where groups of about 20 kids race to collect as many eggs they can. The Egg Scramble is ongoing from 10:30-12:30 p.m.
Crafts, Fun Zone, Bunny Balloon Soak, and entry into the "Egg Scramble" activity require an activity card. Both activity cards and unlimited Fun Zone wristbands can be purchased at our Information Booth for $5ea. Food will be an additional cost. No family will want to miss this special event!

Leo Carrillo Ranch is the stage for a recreation of the Wild West Days when cowboys ruled. Shop at the Trading Post, ride the bucking bronco in the Fun Zone, and create your own cowboy hat. Real cowboys will demonstrate shoot outs, rope tricks and much more. As an added bonus, we’re bringing ponies in for rides.
