General InformationThe City of Carlsbad Recreation offers three different types of camps, tailored to specific age groups. Camps are located around the city in recreation centers or facilities at a park. Each week has a special theme! We have developed an exceptionally safe environment where children can romp and play games, sing and dance, create crafts, make new friends, and most importantly be kids! Camps provide a number of recreational activities for any camper to enjoy; including: water activities, indoor and outdoor games, arts and crafts, and more! Our camps are held both indoors and outdoors; though we do stay outdoors as much as possible. We offer lots of shade and sheltered areas, but it is important to dress appropriately! Please send Camper/s to camp each day with sunscreen (spray on is best for re-application) and our staff will be happy to help them re-apply it as the day goes on. Please be sure to reference our "Frequently Asked Questions" section for more important information. Pee Wee CampThese camps offer a structured half day program for the 3 to 5 years old in your family that have not attended kindergarten. The children in Pee Wee Camp will have playground time, story time, crafts, and so much more! We are happy to have a 1:5 ratio. Safety and fun are at the forefront during all of our activities. Due to our strict adherence to our maximum number of campers in this program PeeWee Camp is our first program each year to become full. In some cases our program will fill up well in advance, so it is important to plan early. Pee Wee Camps are offered during Carlsbad Unified School District's Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Recess. All staff have been through an intense interview process, criminal records check, personal reference check, and have been hand-picked by the Recreation Supervisor. They must be responsible, enthusiastic, fun, energetic, patient, caring, and of course, love children. Our staff has a devotion to the development of youth and most have a background in child care. First Aid and CPR Certification is a requirement for all staff in addition to 16 hours of training provided by the City of Carlsbad. During this training they focus on the areas of teamwork, supervisory skills, emergency procedures, child involvement, and leadership skills. Many staff members return session after session. Both parents and campers get to know staff well, and look forward to seeing them each year. Contact InformationCity of Carlsbad Recreation Department Camps / Teen Programs: (760) 602-7527 C.I.T.
