AQUATICS PROGRAMS AT THE MONROE STREET POOL

The Carlsbad Recreation Department's Aquatics programs provide fitness opportunities, water safety training, instructional classes, competitive and recreational swimming opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Register for a Class

All classes are taught by Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Whether your goal is to familiarize your children with the water, learn new skills, or to stay healthy - there are a variety of classes available for all ages. Per Admission Fees

Youth/Teen 17 & under $2.00
Adult Resident (proof of residency required) $3.00
Adult Non-Resident $4.00

Four month and one month passes are available for individuals and families.

Note: Periodic Emergency Action Plan drills will take place at any time of the day and will last for no more than 15 minutes. These drills are designed to enhance and test lifeguards skills, which results in better safety for all users. Your cooperation is necessary and appreciated.

Masters Swim

Whether you want to complement your existing workout, or just get that extra bit of motivation, the Masters Swim Program can help you meet your fitness needs. With coaching tailored to your individual ability, these supervised, structured workouts are perfect for cross-training, conditioning or increasing overall fitness. Available for adults ages 18 and up.

Masters Swim is available:
Mon.-Fri.: 6:00 am - 7:15 am & 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am - 9:15 am

Fees: $4 Carlsbad resident / $6 non-resident. Convenient monthly rates are also available.

Volunteer Opportunities

Earn free swimming! If you are a young person looking to build references for that first job application, or an adult willing to share some of your people skills, we can use your help as an instructor aide. Minimum Level 4 swim skills required. Information forms available at the front desk or call (760) 602-4685.

The Monroe Street Pool includes a 25 yard by 25 meter pool, two 1-meter diving boards, a 3-meter diving board, a shallow play area and access ramp, six sets of bleachers and plenty of deck space. Parking is available in the east and south lots, and is limited to ninety minutes. The facility includes tiled shower areas, changing and locker facilities and rest rooms. Lockers are available if you bring your own lock and remove it daily.
