Village District Map

District 1: Carlsbad Village Center
Permitted Uses: Retail businesses, dry cleaners, personal services, shoe/garment repair, travel agent, restaurant, art gallery, museums, coffee house/tea room, libraries, parking lots/structures, financial institutions (limited), fast food (small), mixed use projects, and parks.

District 2: Office Support Area
Permitted Uses: Art gallery, libraries, fast food restaurant (small and large), administrative offices, parking lot/structures, coffee houses/tea rooms, retail businesses, dry cleaners, laundromat, personal services, show/garment repair, travel agent, restaurant, financial institution (full and limited), medical therapy offices, parks, museum, mixed use projects, and multi-family dwelling units.

District 3: Freeway Commercial Support Area
Permitted Uses: Art gallery, museum, libraries, office equipment retail/sales, parking lot/structures, coffee houses/tea rooms, retail businesses, business/professional services, dry cleaners, laundromat, personal services, shoe/garment repair, travel agent, fast food (small and large), restaurant, restaurant with entertainment, quick stop food store, pool/billiards parlor, business/professional office, financial institutions (full and limited), medical therapy office, medical treatment offices, and parks.

District 4: Residential Support Area
Permitted Uses: Retail businesses (excluding those noted in "not permitted" category, dry cleaners, personal services, shoe/garment repair, travel agent, restaurant, medical therapy office, multi- family dwelling, single family dwelling, mixed use projects, art gallery, museums, libraries, coffee houses/tea rooms, parking lots/structures and parks.

District 5: Hispanic Mixed Use Support Area
Permitted Uses: Art gallery, museum, libraries, parking lot/structures, coffee houses/tea rooms, retail businesses, dry cleaners, personal services, shoe/garment repair, travel agent, fast food (small), restaurant, financial institutions (limited) medical therapy office, single family dwelling, and parks.

District 6: Service Commercial Support Area
Permitted Uses: Automotive services, parking lot/structures, cabinet shops, parcel delivery service, plumbing shop, plumbing shop supply yards, stained glass studios, parks.

District 7: Office Support Area
Permitted Uses: Business/professional office, medical therapy office, medical treatment office, medical treatment offices with incidental pharmacies and medical labs, parking lot/structure, parks.

District 8: Residential Support Area
Permitted Uses: Multi-family dwelling, single family dwelling, parks. Roosevelt Street only: Insurance agencies, investment services, medical therapy offices, real estate offices, financial institutions (limited) and title companies, mixed use projects.

District 9: Tourism Support Area
Permitted Uses: Arts and crafts, bakery/candy/creamery, coffee houses/tea rooms, newsstand, gifts, ice cream/frozen yogurt, art gallery, museum, mixed use (with commercial on lower level), parking lot/structure and parks.

The City of Carlsbad has established districts which control the location and operation of residential and commercial activities. Included in each district definition are permitted uses; however, the listed uses are just examples of what a district can offer. See the Land Use Matrix for a complete listing of permitted uses.
