Trails

volunteers working on cleaning up a trailOne of the outstanding resources for residents of the City of Carlsbad is the trail system. The Carlsbad trails program is focused on preserving, maintaining, protecting, developing and operating trails throughout the city in perpetuity for public use.

Volunteers make an essential contribution to maintaining Carlsbad's trail system. Join these dedicated volunteers on the second Saturday of every month at one of the city's trails to stop erosion, lay gravel, clip brush or whatever is needed to keep the  trails in top condition.

Those who regularly walk a specific trail can consider becoming trail captains. The volunteer position entails learning who to contact to correct trail problems and taking on responsibilities for keeping that trail well-maintained.
