On October 14, 2008, the City Council appointed Carlsbad residents to the Envision Carlsbad Citizens' Committee (EC3).  The EC3 is relied upon to promote a balanced consideration of the broad range of perspectives on issues affecting Carlsbad’s future, and serves to provide information to community/interest groups, encourages broader community participation, and provides continuity of participation throughout the Envision Carlsbad process.

The EC3 is comprised of 19 Carlsbad residents who represent the following perspectives:

•  Environmental perspective (3 committee members)
• Social perspective (3 committee members)
• Economic perspective (3 committee members)
• General citizen perspective (8 committee members – 2 from each city quadrant)
• Youth perspective – high school students (2 committee members)
