Double Fuji John Cederquist: Illusions in Wood
March 30 – May 25

San Juan Capistrano artist John Cederquist is considered one of the top 100 Craftsmen in America with works in the American Craft Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Museum. A sculptor known for playful trompe-l'œil wood assemblages and furniture that blur the distinctions between reality and illusion. Cederquist’s unique constructions combine two-dimensional inlaid images of everything from Japanese prints to popular cartoons with three dimensional furniture forms.

Elliott Erwitt: Dog Dogs
Aug. 4 – Nov. 3, 2013

Noted American photographer Elliott Erwitt leaves little question about his love of “man’s best friend,” even at the risk of being called a sentimentalist. But if this exhibition of 65 black and white photographs proves anything, it’s that our close relationship with these creatures of the canine world is due to mutual resemblance and emotion. In his vast range of sentiment, and in his easygoing but precise mastery of the abstract elements of composition, Elliott Erwitt explores our close relationship with these furry fellow travelers.

Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation
Jan. 26 – March 16, 2014

Born in the 1910s and 1920s, people from this generation were decisively shaped by their experiences during the Depression, World War II and the Boom years. Today – well into the 21st Century –  images and memories gathered together in this exhibition help us to begin to understand not only who they were, but who we are. In addition, the exhibition will also feature 45 photographs depicting America between 1930 and 1965 from the Museum of Photographic Arts (MoPA) in Balboa Park, San Diego.

Our Lives, Our Stories has been made possible through NEH on the Road, a special initiative of  the National Endowment for the Humanities and brought to you by Mid-America Arts Alliance.
