Carlsbad violinist Bridget Dolkas and composer Matthew Tommasini’s much lauded, inventive chamber music series, “Connections” has built a reputation in San Diego’s north coast communities for its mix of contemporary and classical music in creative contexts that let listeners discover relationships in refreshing ways. Now the series moves to Carlsbad’s intimate, comfortable Schulman Auditorium, and the season offers delights galore, among them many of the region’s finest players.
Performances take place on the first Saturday every two months, starting in October, and they offer a terrific and highly affordable opportunity for classical lovers to introduce those less experienced to the joys of the genre. Here are the programs as developed to date:
October 5: Demons and Angels
Heavenly, playful sounds mix with music of a devil’s bargain in this showdown between light and dark.

December 7: Exotic Landscapes

February 1: Love Triangle

April 5: Silver Screen Onstage
