This opera season
Thirteen is a lucky number in 2013, as we begin our thirteenth year of intriguing introductions to the productions of San Diego Opera’s current season. Our expert guide to all that’s good and grand in opera, Dr. Ron Shaheen, has new insights on the doomed soprano of ancient Egypt, Aida, and the doomed Israelite tenor and his mezzo temptress, Samson and Delilah. Along with these classics, Ron has two brand new subjects making their premiere appearances in SDO’s 21st century repertoire. With fabulous images and musical highlights at his fingertips, Ron’s examinations of Donizetti’s delightful The Daughter of the Regiment and Pizzetti’s dark historical work, Murder in the Cathedral in its the West Coast premiere, are don’t-miss-this events.
Entrance tickets are distributed starting at 9:15 a.m.; doors open at 9:40 a.m.
