Opera Previews Plus
Opera Previews offer an advance, in-depth look at productions by the San Diego Opera. This lively series of hour-long, multi-media lectures by opera musicologist Dr. Ron Shaheen are presented on one Saturday morning each month, January through May, and cover the opera being performed that month. Topics covered include the composer, the cultural background, the music style, the story and the history of the opera’s productions. Each lecture takes place at 10 a.m. at the Schulman Auditorium. Admission is free, and entry passes are distributed beginning at 9:15 a.m. Check the schedule for specific dates and details.
Opera Caravan
The Opera Caravan was originated as a joint program of the Cultural Arts Office and the San Diego Opera to offer North County residents easy, affordable transportation to San Diego Opera’s performances. The cost of a caravan ticket is $20. Patrons purchase caravan tickets directly from San Diego Opera for chartered coach service departing from the Carlsbad City Library on Dove Lane. Tickets to the production may be purchased at the same time or may be purchased ahead of time. Opera Caravans are conducted for all Sunday matinee performances and Wednesday evening performances each season.
