Proposed Public Art Work
We like to know what you think
Comments from the public are an integral part of the success of the City of Carlsbad’s art in public places program. It ensures that the selected artwork is integrated into the environment of the city and reflects the interests of the community at large.
In June of 2008, Fallbrook-based artist Michael Stutz was selected to be the public artist for the City of Carlsbad’s next building project, the City of Carlsbad Safety Training Center located across from the City of Carlsbad’s Safety Center on Orion Way. After public display in several locations and a review of resulting public comments, the Carlsbad Arts Commission recommended Stutz’s design to the City Council, which approved and funded the proposed art work in February 2011.
New public art work is only proposed when the city undertakes new capital building projects, and currently there are no new proposals under consideration. The following links to Michael Stutz’s recently accepted design demonstrate the process that allows interested members of the public to learn about a project. During a new proposal’s public comment period, this page contains updated project information and the opportunity to leave your comment.
