Waiting list

***EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2005, THE WAITING LIST IS CLOSED***

Due to decreases in federal funding, the Carlsbad Housing Agency is no longer accepting applications for the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program waiting list.  Notice of the waiting list reopening will be done via internet, newspaper and the local media.

Applicants who are currently active on the waiting list will remain on the list for rental assistance.  Applicants will be contacted when funding is available.

NOTE:  We do not have emergency housing.  Please see emergency housing for more information.

Those who are currently living or working in Carlsbad and have an active application please refer to Eligibility for more information on qualifications.

Updating waiting list information

Those who are currently on the Section 8 waiting list are required to:

  • Notify the Carlsbad Housing Agency of any changes in family composition, income and/or mailing address;
  • Respond to any request for updated information or appointment notices.  Failure to comply may result in the applicant’s name being removed from the waiting list.

To update an application, see Waiting List Update Form.

Applicants may also pick up the form at the office or call 760-434-2810 to have an update form mailed.

Transferring waiting list application

You may transfer your section 8 application to Carlsbad if:

  • You applied with another San Diego County Housing Agency on or before September 30, 2005;
  • You are currently working or living in the City of Carlsbad.

The applicant must contact the Housing Agency where applied and request a copy of the application to be sent to Carlsbad's office.  Carlsbad will honor the original application date.  Call 760-434-2882 to hear a recording of the agencies names and phone numbers.  Those living outside of San Diego County who would like to sign up for Section 8 should contact their local housing agency.  For a list of housing agencies, contact HUD.
