The photos will be displayed at all three Carlsbad City Library locations during March and April. Due to space limitations, only one submission per person can be accepted. All work must be original. Complete details are found on the registration form.  

Carlsbad Reads Together encourages the community to read the same book at the same time and to engage in discussions and related events. This year’s book selection tells of Steinbeck’s 1960 attempt to reacquaint himself with the America he’d written about all his life.

Other Carlsbad Reads Together events include book discussion groups, a Steinbeck film series, Carlsbad Playreaders presentation of “The Grapes of Wrath” and more.  

Construction at Library on Dove Lane

On February 2, construction improvements began in the parking lot and courtyard entry of Carlsbad City Library on Dove Lane. The Library will be open normal hours during the duration of the construction project, currently estimated to take approximately three months. Library programs and access to the Cannon Art Gallery will not be impacted by the construction.

The curb between the two handicapped ramps directly in front of the library will be removed, and the transition between the parking lot and the front of the library will gently slope up to the courtyard, improving safety. Lighting will be added at the curb, along with a seating area, providing a better location for patron pick-up and drop-off.

Signs will guide patrons around the construction area and into the Library’s main doors. There may be some additional noise during the project, particularly in the first few weeks. The construction crew will be working within an enclosed environment to keep the impacts on Library patrons to a minimum.
