Rock the Library concerts
Enjoy an evening of entertainment by teen bands when Carlsbad City Library presents its Rock the Library concert series. All concerts take place from 7-8 p.m. in Carlsbad City Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane. Admission is free. For more information, call 760-602-2058.
The Rock the Library concert series features bands from the City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department’s Teen Scene “Battle of the Bands” held in January 2013.
May 9: Fractal Pterodactyl is based in North San Diego County and their music includes elements of reggae, blues and psychedelic rock. They won the 2012 Westfield North County Battle of the Bands.
May 23: John’s Last Ghost consists of lead singer Shaker (Shocker) Kattoula, Lawrence Kattoula on guitar and Elias Saldana on drums. This punk band is a mission to keep rock and roll alive. They placed second at Teen Scene.
June 6: Out to Sea is a band from Carlsbad that plays modern metal (a mix of thrash, progressive and metal core). They placed first at Teen Scene.
Teen volunteers needed for Summer Arts Camps
We're seeking responsible and creative teen volunteers ages 15 to 19 to become Summer Arts Camp Counselors for the City of Carlsbad's Cultural Arts Office camps programs. Volunteering during our Club Pelican or Creative Arts Camp programs is a fun way to spend part of your summer and a great way to learn about various types of art forms, working with children (and adults) and a great way to gain experience. All teen volunteer application materials are due on Friday, May 31 by 5 p.m. Download an application.
