Children's Programs

The Library offers a variety of fun, educational programs for children of all ages. Below are descriptions of regular programs offered.

Baby Rhyme Time

Tuesdays, 10 a.m., Cole Library, ages birth to 18 months

This 20-minute interactive caregiver/baby one-on-one program introduces babies to books, simple songs and fingerplays.

This 20-minute interactive caregiver/baby one-on-one program introduces babies to books, simple songs and fingerplays. Space is limited to the first 12 baby/caregiver pairs. Please arrive early and check in at the Children’s Desk.

Toddler Time

Mondays, 10 a.m., Cole Library, ages 18 to 36 months

A toddler/adult program. Twenty minutes of bonding time—sharing stories, songs and fingerplays.

Toddler Time

Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. Dove Library, for walkers up to age 3

This 30-minute program will help children discover the winning combination of music, movement and books.


Storytime Theater

Fridays, 10 a.m., Dove Library, age 2 years
Fridays, 11 a.m., Dove Library, ages 3 to 5 years

Stories, songs and a puppet show related to the stories with occasional special guests. Arrive early and pick up a ticket. Space is limited. No late seating.

 


Movers & Shakers

Fridays, 10 a.m., Cole Library, age 18 to 36 months 

Children's minds will be stimulated through movement, music and stories with a whole lot of imagination! For ages 18 months and older.

Bilingual Story Craft

Tuesdays, 10 a.m., Learning Center, ages 3 to 5 years
Tuesdays, 3 p.m., Learning Center, ages 3 to 5 years

Stories in Spanish and English followed by a related craft project.


Preschool Storytime

Wednesdays, 10 a.m., Learning Center, ages 3 to 5

Stories, songs, fingerplays and more, always with a bit of imagination.

An after-school reading club.

Science Saturdays

Saturdays (check for specific dates and times), Dove Library, school age children

Kids are invited to learn more about science in a fun and supportive environment. A different themed program each month features diverse activities including fun facts, craft projects and special visitors. Recommended for school age children, with a parent or other adult.


Computer Lab Programs for Kids

Check events calendar for specific dates and times, Dove Library, grades 3 to 5

To participate in Lab programs, kids must have a valid library card with Internet permission on file.

First Edition Word
Learn Microsoft Word from the beginning in this two-hour session.

Research Rangers
Maximize your library experience! Learn how to best access and evaluate information and resources @ your library. Please note: Each class session is 90 minutes.

PowerPoint for Kids
Kids will explore their family history with help from the Library. Participants will create PowerPoint slide presentations during this three-session course. Bring in family photos, documents and other memorabilia to scan and insert into your presentation. The Library will burn a CD of participants' finished product for taking home to share with family and friends. Please note: Each class session is 90 minutes.

Puros Cuentos y Pan Dulce

Mondays, 4 p.m., Learning Center, all ages

A reading time in Spanish, followed by sweet bread.

Saturdays, 11 a.m., Cole Library, all ages

Children's stories and fingerplays hosted by Library volunteers and staff.
