Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department partners with independent contract instructors through our Instructional Class Division. Instructional classes provide diversified programming that develops new interests or fosters further development of a specific skill or training. Our quality programs provide a variety of benefits and encourage lifelong learning.
Enrichment programs
Class sessions are offered in six or eight week formats. Six week classes offer a one week break between sessions while eight week programs run continuously. Programs are reviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria:

The Parks & Recreation Department accepts new class/camp proposals on an ongoing basis. To submit a new class/camp proposal form for consideration you will be required to provide the following:

The Parks & Recreation Department accepts new proposals on an ongoing basis. Proposals are reviewed in the order they are received. Proposals are retained on file for a period of 12 months from the date it was received.
New Instructor Requirements
Contracted instructors are required to provide a current Carlsbad business license, appropriate liability insurance, background check, and a current negative TB test result. Contracts are valid for one calendar year.
