Alga Norte Community Park

Alga Norte Community Park will be a vibrant new addition to southeast Carlsbad, featuring a diverse array of amenities for all ages that complement the changing needs of Carlsbad's active residents.

At the April 26 City Council Workshop, council members voted uniamously to build Phase I of the park.

In addition to directing staff to begin building the park as soon as possible, the City Council asked staff to continue to explore the possibility of partnering with other organizations if that approach could save the city money while still meeting the public’s needs. After a formal request for proposals process, staff will then evaluate eligible proposals and make a recommendation to City Council to determine whether to pursue a partnership arrangement or to have the city operate the park.

The next step is to update the park’s permits and code compliance to conform to changes in the law since the park was originally designed. That is estimated to take up to 12 months.

The 32-acre site is located east of El Camino Real, bordered on the south by Poinsettia Lane and on the east by Alicante Road.
