Proper maintenance of the city’s trails is essential for providing safe and enjoyable recreational benefits to residents and visitors alike on over 45 miles of multi-use trails. In order to protect the financial investment of the trails system, the city adopted trail maintenance standards in 2002, outlining the basic maintenance standards and responsibilities of the Parks Maintenance Trails Division.
A key component of the city’s trails maintenance relies on volunteer service to build and maintain the trails. Monthly trail volunteer work events are scheduled to augment maintenance duties. Special projects are also planned with volunteers to improve not only the trail surface but also to install pet stations, trail signage, benches and interpretive or educational panels along trail routes.
