To report maintenance issues regarding city parks, trees and medians, call 760-434-2824 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Trees and median maintenance is part of the Parks Division, and is responsible for maintaining more than 10,000 trees and nearly 50 acres of landscaped medians in city right-of-ways.
Residents may request the removal of a city tree by submitting the request in writing. The letter must include the location of the tree and the reason for the removal. Upon receiving the letter, a city arborist will inspect the tree and recommend in writing the approval or denial of the request. If the tree removal is denied or approved, anyone may request a formal appeal to the Parks and Recreation Commission. The fee to request an appeal is $120 per appellant. The fee is reimbursed to the appellant if the Parks and Recreation Commission approves the appeal.
All tree removal requests must be mailed to the following address:
City of Carlsbad

Attn: Trees and Medians Supervisor

Community Forest Management Plan
The Community Forest Management Plan (CFMP) sets guidelines and procedures on how the city can plant, maintain, remove, replace and preserve public trees in the city's right of way. The CFMP was recommended by a citizen committee created in 2000 by the City Council to study the city's street tree policy.
