Ongoing activities

  • Balance & Mobility:

     Beginning: Wednesdays 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

     Intermediate: Mondays and Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

A progressive balance training program for those with balance problems; a history or fear of falling. Improve posture and sensory systems, and learn loss-of-balance recovery techniques. Must have the ability to walk and stand independently. $5 donation per class requested. Reservations required; call 760-602-4650 to reserve.

  • Laughter Yoga: Thursdays, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.  

Stretching, breathing and laughing exercised that enhance relaxation and health. Enjoy "laughter for no reason!"  Free.

  • Low-Impact Aerobics with Carl Grubbs: Thursdays, 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Keep active to feel healthy with low-impact exercises. Improves flexibility, strength, balance, range-of-motion and coordination. $2.50 donation requested.

  • NEW! Mat Pilates: Tuesdays, 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. beginning Jan. 10, 2012.

Pilates is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises, which helps to balance our bodies, improve circulation and posture, reduce stress and unite body and mind. Designed for all fitness levels. Students work at their own pace. No reservations necessary. Please bring a mat. $5 donation requested.

  • Primordial Sound Meditation:

     Introduction: Mondays, 9 to 9:30 a.m.

     Regular session: Mondays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

A Chopra Center-certified PSM instructor will help you let go of stress, moving beyond the mind's constant stream of thoughts and on to a sense of inner tranquility and well-being. $5 donation requested.

  • Tai Chi:

     NEW! Beginning: Thursdays 1 to 2 p.m.

     Intermediate: Thursdays, 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.

     Advanced: Tuesdays, 8:15 to 9:15 a.m.

Emphasizes relaxation, ease of movement, focused attention, and improves flexibility, balance and coordination. $5 donation requested.

  • Yoga

     Level I:    Beginning/Gentle: Mondays, 3 to 4:15 p.m.  $3 donation requested.

Designed for those who have not taken Yoga before.

     Level II:   Intermediate: Mondays, 3 to 4:15 p.m.  $3 donation requested.

Designed for students who have had some previous Yoga instruction. The class begins with centering and diaphragmatic breathing, and then do extensive warm-ups intermixed with somatic exercises before moving into basic yoga postures. Explicit instructions are given for every movement allowing you to go deeply into the postures at a relaxed and comfortable pace. The class ends with a five-minute Savasana, allowing you to leave feeling energized and relaxed.

     Level III:  Intermediate/Advanced: Thursdays, 10 to 11:15 a.m. $3 donation requested.

The routines are similar to the Level II Yoga class although at a little faster pace, allowing the mature body to pause and relax as needed. Many students use Level III as an opportunity to attend class twice a week so the level of experience varies greatly. Each student is encouraged to watch “their edge” and closely monitor their individual capability.

  • Qigong for Energy and Health: Tuesdays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.  Drop-in $10 per class.  Pre-register for a multi-class session at a discounted rate, or call the front desk at 760-602-4650.

Increase energy, reduce stress, improve sleep patterns, enhance mental acuity, and strengthen immune system with the clinically-proven practice of Qigong (pronounced Chee-gong).  Immediately benefit from deep relaxation, breathing exercises, and vitalizing gentle, fluid movements that may be done standing or sitting in a chair.  All physical conditions welcome.

  • Zumba Gold: Thursdays, 9 to 10 a.m. Drop-in $7 per class.  Pre-register for a multi-class session at a discounted rate, or call the front desk at 760-602-4650.

This dance/fitness class uses easy-to-follow dance steps coupled with infectious international rhythms with a Latin flair! Songs are choreographed for specific purposes; warm-up, cardio-conditioning, balance and stretching. you'll exercise the heart muscle and the brain, stay fit and have fun in a party-like atmosphere. All levels welcome, dress lightly, bring water.
