Participant information
-
Volunteer drivers deliver meals to program participants between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Participants who have not received their scheduled delivery by 12:30 p.m. should call the Senior Center at
760-602-4657
.
- Participants must be home to receive a meal. Drivers are never allowed to leave meals without seeing the client.
- One hot meal, milk, etc. will be delivered five days each week. A snack sandwich for the evening meal and up to two frozen meals for the weekend can also be delivered upon request for an additional donation.
- The main meal comes in a container that can be heated in a standard oven or toaster oven as long as the lid has been removed. DO NOT place this meal in the microwave unless food has been removed from the metal tin and placed in a microwavable container.
- Home meal delivery is made possible by funding through the City of Carlsbad, Aging and Independence Services of San Diego, and donations from Home Meal participants. Every two weeks the driver will bring the participant an envelope for donation. Please return the envelope to the driver the next day. A receipt will be issued and returned in the next envelope. Make checks payable to City of Carlsbad.
- During the first few weeks of participation in the program, a staff person will either visit or telephone the participant to verify eligibility. This information is required by Aging & Independence Services and is kept in the strictest confidence. Should a participant need to remain on the program for more than 2 to 3 months, a staff person will contact the participant to confirm continued eligibility.
