Adopt-a-Trail: Volunteer Projects

A trail training program is provided for all volunteers. The Adopt-A-Trail Program offers two distinct opportunities for volunteerism:

  • Trail maintenance: Adopt a segment of trail for a minimum of one year, and provide routine trail maintenance on a monthly basis. Take pride of ownership in community trails by performing maintenance such as erosion repairs, pruning, trimming, graffiti removal, and collecting litter.
  • Special projects: Organizations may volunteer to provide the labor, materials and equipment for implementation of a special trails improvement project. Sample projects include: constructing new trails, providing new trail amenities such as signage, benches and kiosks, constructing trail improvements such as foot bridges and trail markers, or building trail head staging areas with amenities such as restrooms, water fountains and parking.
