Clarke Vollbrecht
The department recognizes Clarke Vollbrecht as the Senior Volunteer Member of the year. He is always ready to roll and makes himself available whenever and however needed. He also handles secondary in-house duties for the SVP.
Clarke was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and received his B.A. from Waynesburg College. He entered the Marine Corps and came to Camp Pendleton as a 2nd Lt. in 1959. He remained active in the Marine Corps Reserve and retired as a Colonel in 1988 after almost 33 years of service.
Clarke joined the San Dieguito Union High School District as a junior high English and Social Studies teacher. He became a counselor and assistant principal there while earning his M.A. and Ph.D. This SVP later served in other school districts, including the Carlsbad Unified School District, as an assistant principal, principal, and district administrator for 18 years. He was assistant superintendent in the La Puente Valley R.O. P. for four years and retired in 1995.
Clarke joined the Senior Volunteer Patrol in 2001 and was promoted to Patrol Leader in 2003. He has logged 6,000 hours as a Senior Volunteer Patrol Member . He also inventories and reassigns SVP uniform items.
He has two children, David and Donna, who live in Temecula. He also has two stepchildren, Amy and Lee. He has been married to his wife, Elva, for 20 years.
