As required by State Legislation, the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency (RDA) was dissolved as of February 1, 2012.  While the Agency no longer exists, the Successor Agency (City of Carlsbad) has assumed responsibility for administering enforceable obligations of the RDA, completing existing projects, and ultimately to wind down RDA operations over time.

• Successor Agencies
  On January 10, 2012, the Housing and Redevelopment Commission and City Council approved the City of Carlsbad as the Successor Agency for the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency (RDA).  The Carlsbad Authority will assume responsibility for the housing functions of the previous RDA as the Successor Housing Agency.
• Village Area 
  Originally adopted as a redevelopment area in 1981, the Village Area (200 acres) has now transitioned into a walkable and vibrant neighborhood of Carlsbad.  The Village Redevelopment Plan expired in July 2010.  It continues to be regulated, however, by the Village Master Plan and Design Manual.  In addition, several existing projects are continuing to be implemented as set forth by the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency.
• South Carlsbad Coastal Redevelopment Area 
  Adopted on July 18, 2000, the Project Area (555 acres) includes the Carlsbad Boulevard alignment, Ponto Beach Area, the South Carlsbad State Beach Campgrounds, and the Encina Power Station.  Although the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency was dissolved as of February 1, 2012, per State Legislation, the City of Carlsbad (as the Successor Agency) is continuing to implement projects in the area which were approved prior to June 29, 2011.
• Enforceable Obligation Payment Schedule
  The Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency has approved the Enforceable Obligation Payment Schedule, or EOPS, to share information on the outstanding debt or financial obligations of the Carlsbad Redevelopment Agency.
