Construction of the final phase of improvements for Aviara Community Park began in early August 2018. The park will remain open during construction, however access to the areas where construction will occur, including portions of the parking lots, will be restricted. Work is expected to be complete in summer 2019.
Please use caution when visiting the park – especially during construction hours from 7 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. Patrons with questions about the construction project should call Parks & Recreation Administration at 760-434-2826 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The city is currently making improvements identified in the master plan update for this park, based on community input and a comprehensive needs assessment. The plans/specifications for Aviara Community Park improvements were recommended for approval by the Parks & Recreation Commission on Sept. 19, 2016. The project was re-advertised for bids on Feb. 2, 2017. Bids were received on Mar. 21, 2017. On Sept. 12, 2017, the City Council rejected all bids received for the project.
On Feb. 13, 2018, the City Council authorized staff to advertise for bids for the Aviara and Poinsettia Community Parks. Bids were received on April 24, 2018 and the City Council awarded the construction contract on June 26, 2018.
