Improvements were identified in the master plan update for this park, which was based on community input and a comprehensive needs assessment.  A new multigenerational community center is located in the northeast corner of the park. The southwest corner of the park is developed with ornamental and community gardens. The plans/specifications for the Pine Avenue Community Park improvements were recommended for approval by the Parks & Recreation Commission on Sept. 19, 2016, and the Senior Commission on Sept.22, 2016. On Oct. 25, 2016, the City Council approved the plans/specifications and authorized the advertisement of bids. Based on the bids received, the City Council awarded a contract for construction of the project on Jan. 24, 2017.
